These terms govern your use of The Household Ledger ("the app"), operated by [your name or business name] ("we", "us"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

The service

The app helps you catalog household items and paint colors, with optional AI-assisted features (photo scanning, price lookups, reference photo search). The free tracking features require no account. AI features require an account and a credit balance.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when signing up.

Subscriptions & credits

• Subscriptions bill on a recurring basis (monthly) until cancelled. You can cancel anytime via the "Manage billing" link, which takes you to Stripe's billing portal.
• Subscription credits are granted each billing cycle and roll over — unused credits from a prior month carry forward rather than being reset to zero.
• Credit packs are one-time purchases and do not expire.
• Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash.
• Refunds: All sales are final. Subscription payments and credit pack purchases are non-refundable, though you can cancel a subscription at any time to stop future charges.

AI feature accuracy — please read

Photo scans, price estimates, product identification, and reference photos are generated by an AI model and web searches. They may be inaccurate, outdated, or simply wrong. Always verify important details — especially replacement cost estimates and anything used in an insurance report or claim — before relying on them. We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

Your data

Your household inventory data is stored locally in your browser, not on our servers — see the Privacy Policy for details. You're responsible for backing it up using the app's export feature; we cannot recover data you haven't backed up yourself.

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to violate any law, attempt to circumvent rate limits or billing, or interfere with the service's operation.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can stop using the app and cancel your subscription at any time.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on AI-generated content or loss of locally-stored data.

Sales tax

Applicable sales tax, VAT, or similar is calculated and collected automatically at checkout based on your location, using Stripe Tax. The price shown at checkout may include tax added on top of the listed subscription/credit pack price.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
